Mission:
To enhance philanthropy to create and preserve a system of parks, trails, and natural areas for outdoor recreation for Pickaway County.
History:
The Pickaway County Park District was started in 2002. With the Commissioner’s assistance in funding $10,000 a year to keep the Park District afloat, the District was determined to keep moving forward with their goals for the Parks and Trails in Pickaway County. A tax levy was introduced and planned. In November of 2017, the Pickaway County Park District passed their tax levy. The idea was then had to establish the Friends of Pickaway Parks and Trails. The final allotment of $10,000 was approved to open a new fund within the Pickaway County Community Foundation for Pickaway Parks and Trails. The intent, along with the ability to provide another support base to parks and trails in Pickaway County, was to be able to secure large donations and estates that, for the donor, is more profitable since it is tax deductible through a 501c3 organization. With these monies, in the future this organization can help with future campaigns for funding, and larger funded projects.

- The development of financial resources through major gifts, planned giving and endowment funds.
- Engagement of the broader citizenry
- Citizen engagement allows us to broaden the discussion to include the views and outlooks of traditionally marginalized groups, leading to more inclusive organizations—governments, development groups, and donor agencies alike. This can strengthen public consensus for important improvements, and provide the broad civil support and public ownership necessary to sustain them.
